Animal Kingdom/Animal Families Flip Booklet

Click on the collage to download!
This exciting flipbook will help your students learn to take notes while researching the animal kingdom! With an individual tab for each animal family, room to write interesting facts and an area to draw and/or cut/paste pictures of examples of animals that fall under that classification.
This flipbook also contains a tab where students can write questions they still have about the animal kingdom and/or their research, as well as a glossary for important words. In the glossary, students will record important vocabulary they have learned and provide a definition.
There is a page of labeled photographs that students can cut/paste onto each section based on their classification.
Finally, there is a word find on the last tab that contains the names of many animals they have already seen and some that will challenge students to figure out which animal kingdom they belong to….what a great way for students to continue learning. *An answer key has been provided!
All-in-all, this is a simple, yet effective tool for you to use with your students.
If you like the design/layout of this product and would like one customized for another lesson you are doing, please email me through my TPT store or at erinmills67@yahoo.com and I can create whatever you’d like!

Nonfiction Conventions Hunt

As I was creating the SB lesson that outlines nonfiction text features, I thought to myself that we could easily incorporate this into our reading workshop. With the activity below, your students can choose nonfiction books that interest them most and go on a scavenger hunt! I will tell you that my 2nd grader LOVED using this and was able to read quite a few nonfiction books as sources for his scavenger hunt! I will try and locate the SB lesson I used where students were given a nonfiction source and were able to place the sticky notes on the correct convention...it was a good interactive (guided) activity!
Use if you'd like!

Non-Fiction Reading Response

Our school has always had a subsciption for Time for Kids for years now and with each weekly edition, we collaborate a variety of activities for students to respond to their reading. Today, I've included one such activity...a reading response menu for non-fiction text or in this case, Time for Kids.
Use if you'd like!
