SMART Board Version-Locating Items On A Grid-Activities for K-3

Click on the picture to download this SMART Board Activity!

*Please leave feedback for downloading this cute little FREEBIE!
This download is a fun way to get kids to practice locating items on a grid. This activity goes along with a SMART Board lesson, so you MUST have that software! Just like the PDF version in my TPT store, students can NOW move the birds and other cute pictures into different locations on a variety of grids. Then, the class has to tell where the items are located on the grid. You can print the PDF version and use it alongside this SMART Board activity and/or just print up the blank pages to use workstation if you wanted. I ended up printing them as posters and putting them in workstations :)
As always, I hope this is helpful to you and your students enjoy practicing the skills of finding locations on a grid!
~Erin
*Please note that this download uses the SMART Board software...the PDF version is a separate download in my store.

Adding Spice to Mapping Skills!

In all the years I've taught, 1st-5th grade students are required to create a map of some kind...usually starting with mapping your classroom (whole group) and then having students map their home or their own room. In my quest to find a way to spice up this lesson, I stumbled upon the Floor Planner website! It is incredibly cool and allowed my homeschooler to create a 2D model of our home....not only that, with just one click, we were able to make the 2D layout we created into a 3D model! I have to say, that this was as much fun for me to learn as it was for my 2nd grader!
If you haven't checked out their website, click here:

Glogster-Dental Health

This Glogster was created for Dental Heath Week. It is used in coordination with a "scavenger hunt" for information and can be used throughout the week….a fact (or more) a day.
Hope you enjoy!

Glogster-Alexander Graham Bell

This Glogster was created when we studied famous inventors; this one focuses on Alexander Graham Bell. If you click on the links provided, you can fill in the information from the student activity page. I’ve also had students fill in a "brochure" with the same information, but foldable layout....I will try and post that was well.
Use if you’d like!

Glogster-Comparing Prices

I am a HUGE fan of creating Glogsters to help teach concepts. I’ve created over a dozen of them the past few years and wondered why I haven’t shared them with all of those who visit my blog….well, I will start posting them this week, along with the student response sheets that go along with them. This particular Glog was used to during our money unit. We discussed comparing and saving  money by using coupons and comparing competitors' prices to save as well. You will see 3 items students can purchase. They will click on each of the links and compare prices. Which site has the best price? We also went further to analyze shipping cost vs. site-to-store prices.
Use if you’d like!

Virtual Literacy A-Z

A little over a year ago, I was able to present at the University of Houston Victoria Teacher Symposium. This was a great opportunity to share one of my favorite topics....technology integreaton. I just realized that I haven't share this with you guys yet soooo here goes :)
First, I created a Glog that goes along with this presentation as well as printed posters from the plotter so posters were stationed all around the room. While attendants learned about the different online web resources, they were able to fill in an A-Z chart (remade from readwritething.org). Below you will find the posters, Glog, and A-Z chart.
Use if you'd like!

Click here to see the Glogster.

Click here to download the posters. They can also be used as a presentation :)

Do you know about Poll Everywhere?

At one of the trainings I attended the other day, the presenters used www.polleverywhere.com to survey the educators in the room about the subject material. I thought about what a great tool this could be to get some quick feedback about the students (and their knowledge) in your class. You could easily use it as a beginning-of-the-year get to know you activity!
It is EASY and FREE to subscribe to if you are an educator! All you have to do is type in a question and it will generate a texting code. Then, students text their answers (using the code) & the responses immediately show up in a colorful graph. Ms. Mecham's website lists a bunch of  ideas/questions you can use with your class so take a moment to check it out!...ENJOY!

Cheez-It Math-Area, Perimeter, & Making Words!

So, I created my original Cheez-It math activity in 1999...yes, I've been teaching that long :) and LOVE this activity! I've added to it throughout the years and finally decided to transform it into a SB lesson.
I have an "activity page" (AKA worksheet) that goes along with it (which I'll have to find), but quite honestly, I'm more of a "record your work in your math journal" anyway. I'm going to post the SB lesson and if you think of anything that would enhance this activity, please let me know. BTW, there are a few pictures that I found randomly in the Internet to help provide examples...I guess great minds think alike :)
